New Community Baby Shower To Be Held In Kingsland
Kingsland, Ga. is about to witness a heartwarming gathering of new parents and their little ones as the Camden County Health Department and Family Connection Camden host a community baby shower. This exciting event aims to bring together like-minded individuals, provide essential support, and showcase the wealth of resources available to new parents in the area. The event will take place at Christ Church Camden, a beautiful venue located at 250 Lake Pointe Drive in Kingsland, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 26. The best part? It’s completely free to attend, making it an ideal opportunity for new parents to connect with their community and gain access to invaluable support. As Melissa Perkins, nurse manager at the Camden County Health Department, aptly put it, “We just hope that we are able to show these new parents that there is a lot of community support between healthcare and different organizations in the area that they just maybe did not know about.”
The baby shower is open to new parents and their newborns from birth to 1 year old, making it an inclusive and welcoming space for all. With a goal of attracting at least 100 attendees, Perkins hopes to make this event even bigger and more successful than its predecessor, which drew a crowd of over 100 people in March 2024. One of the highlights of the event will be the distribution of essential items such as bibs, pacifiers, and diapers. However, the focus goes beyond just providing necessities – the Camden County Health Department and Family Connection Camden also aim to empower new parents with resources and information that will benefit them throughout their journey. Some of the goodies attendees can expect to receive include:
* Postpartum and prenatal pamphlets
* Information on mental health programs available
* Resources on car seat safety
* Safe sleep training materials
* CPR demonstrations
But that’s not all! The event will also feature special sessions from vendors and community groups, providing new parents with the opportunity to learn from experts and connect with others who share similar experiences. Perkins emphasized the importance of community engagement, saying, “The idea is just to get a bunch of different people in one room so that we can all kind of learn from each other. The response we received from the community last year was not only encouraging, but is motivating all those involved to make the community baby shower bigger and better every annually.”
The success of the event was evident in the feedback from attendees, who praised the organization, fun atmosphere, and focus on supporting parents beyond just the baby. As Perkins noted, “They loved it. They thought it was well organized. They thought it was fun. A lot of the parents loved that we did not just get it toward babies. A lot of the stuff was geared toward parents, and not just the baby.”
